Also, look at the web-site for Troppo Architects: www.troppo.net.au
They say:
"Troppo architects came into being in 1980 in order to promote
good tropical architecture in Australia's Top End. With the aid
of a N. T. Government History Grant, the practice was able to
reserach and eventually define and publicise the unique history
of architecture in this region. This knowledge has in turn enabled
us to create a new and relevant architecture for the local climate
and cultural setting: a contemporary architecture with a traditional
base. The practice is now nationally and internationally recognised
for its efforts in this particular corner of the world."
The book "Troppo: Pesaro Architectural Monographs 2"
by Philip Goad (with an introduction by Glenn Murcutt)was published
by pesaro of Sydney in 1999 (pictured left).
